The new estimate came after the city collected a series of high sales tax checks that began in May 2021. The MAPS 4 tax began in April 2020, and despite getting off to a slow start due to the pandemic, collections are $12 million above projections. The expected $100 million extra will be divided proportionally between the 16 projects and likely will be used to offset rising construction costs and inflation for most, if the city council approves the plan.
